Laia obtained a degree in Veterinary Medicine from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). She completed her PhD at UAB focusing on weaning piglets, evaluating dietary strategies with biotic characteristics to improve intestinal health and resilience during the weaning transition. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher affiliated with UAB and Trouw Nutrition (The Netherlands), where her research focuses on weaning piglets and the physiological dynamics of the gut–brain axis involved in adaptation to this critical life stage.
